Giggling

Maya started laughing a few weeks back, but just recently has she upped the giggle factor. Her giggle is just the best sound in the entire world. Please don't laugh at her Where's Waldo outfit (thanks Jamie!) and mismatched bib.

Hangin' with the Kahn family

Last weekend Maya got to hang out with her boyfriend, Owen! It was tons of fun! They came all the way up from NJ to visit with us. Most of the day the babies just hung out while the moms made faces at them!

Mommy tried to make Maya giggle by eating her face, but no dice.

And Maya even let Owen play with her toys.

We entertained the babies with some fun music and lights on the computer.

Here's Owen napping with his daddy:

Then we got them all bundled up to take a walk. The babies were so excited they even held hands!

Aw, look at the Kahns! Aren't they cute?

Maya looooooooves walks.

Owen was pretty cozy, too.

All in all, it was a great day!

More videos

In other news, Maya's not quite old enough for her exersaucer, but she loves it anyway.

Doing what she does best (complaining!):

She's started grabbing the pacifier out of her mouth and then trying to get it back in.

4 months

Maya is 4 months old. Her pediatrician visit was uneventful. She is now 14lbs 1oz, 25 1/4 inches long, and her head is 41cm around. The doctor said she's doing wonderfully, and told us not to listen to anyone else regarding starting solids. She'll start them when she's ready. :) We're really not in any hurry and are happy to let her little digestive tract mature a bit more. We opted to have her get her regularly scheduled vaccinations. The first time around they only seemed to make her legs a bit sore. This time she seemed to get a little feverish, so we had a quiet afternoon at home after her appointment.

The next day she was still feeling a little feverish. This is how she let us know:

She and Stanley are also beginning to discover each other. Here's Stanley giving her a kiss.

She also sometimes pets Stanley by grabbing his fur. We're not thrilled about her putting his fur into her mouth, but she seems to enjoy it.

She's also started trying to get her thumb (as opposed to her whole hand) into her mouth. It seems to be pretty interesting to her.

Arizona Trip

Right after Christmas we took our first big trip - to Arizona, to celebrate Maya's great grandfather's 90th birthday, and her grandfather's 65th birthday. We left the afternoon of the 27th. Maya did well in the airport, and relatively well on the plane. We were relieved, as it was a 5 hour flight! She only cried a little before she fell asleep. Otherwise, she was a dream, especially considering that it was a 12-hour travel day, and she didn't get to bed until about 4 hours past her normal bed time! We were all a bit jet lagged!

But then we woke up to this:

Arizona is breathtakingly beautiful! Although Maya seemed more interested in the pattern on our couch in the hotel:

Aunt Molly's friend is a tour guide at the botanical gardens, and he hooked us up with a sweet tour! Here's the whole gang before the tour:

Our awesome tour guide, Sonny (he knew EVERYTHING!):

Incredible scenery:

God bless the Ergo. We couldn't have lived without it this trip:

Maya slept so well in it!

After our tour we got a little snack at the hotel. Grandma tried to keep Maya entertained, but she wasn't having it. Mom and Maya went back up to our room for a well-needed nap (this kid needs a LOT of sleep!)

After a good nap, we were ready to head out to meet Great Grandpa for the first time, and then to go to dinner. Maya got all dressed up for the big event!

The first time Great Grandpa laid eyes on her:

The first time he held her.. unfortunately, Maya wasn't quite in the mood!

With Aunt Molly at dinner:

The two birthday boys:

Unfortunately, Maya was exhausted during dinner, so mom and dad had to take turns walking outside with her. Thankfully it was a beautiful night!

She was finally happy - after we returned to our room!

The next morning we headed over to Aunt Molly's house for breakfast. On the way, we stopped at Trader Joe's.

After a short nap at Aunt Molly's, Maya was ready for some attention.

Great Grandpa got a photo of Maya:

And she was ready for Great Grandpa to hold her!

Here's daddy hanging out with Maya:

We had a quiet day at the hotel the next day and a quick lunch that afternoon. Grandma was very entertaining!

Although The Fussies are never far behind!

Another nap later and we decided to take one last walk around our hotel before heading home the next day.

A bit blurry, but hey, a smile's a smile!

The hotel was so nicely landscaped.

Maya thought so too.

We had a great time in Arizona, but we were a little homesick!

The next day, Maya once again surprised us by doing extremely well at the airport, and on the plane. She even managed a 2+ hour nap on the plane while Mom and Dad watched a really horrible movie. It was another 12 hour travel day, with us arriving home around 9:30pm on New Year's Eve. We all passed out well before midnight! It was good to be home.

Christmas

Maya's first Christmas! It went as well as we could expect. Maya napped the whole 2-hour drive up to Aunt Kathy and Uncle Gerry's house, and then lasted three hours of being awake without complaining. Maya got to meet lots of family and spend time with people she already knew, like Grandma.

And her cousins Samantha ...

And Kyle!

Her first overnight away from home! We spent it at the Wright's house and then we looked at what Santa brought on Christmas. With Grandpa & cousin Alex:

Oooh! Cool new toy!

The exciting video:

Then we went to Aunt Christina's and Uncle Luke's until just after dinner. Maya had trouble napping, but did great otherwise.

Merry Christmas!
