Maya turned 7 months this week. Amazing how fast the time has gone.
She's still just playing around with solids, for the most part. When she's in the mood, she much prefers to feed herself. She really does not like purees, or to be fed with a spoon. She's doing a good job of learning how to eat on her own. She will sometimes accept bits of food fed to her on mom or dad's finger, but if she can, we prefer to let her feed herself.
Yesterday morning we had some banana and pears!
She's not such a fan of smoothies, however.
All that yummy food makes for some awesome thunder thighs!
In case you haven't noticed yet, Maya's been sitting up for about a week now. It makes playtime much more fun. Her eyes are still a bit gunky in these photos. She's been fighting an interesting cold this week that makes her eyes goopey and has given her a dry cough, but nothing else besides extra fussies.
Maya absolutely loves Stanley. It won't be long before she'll be crawling after him!
Playing and then getting fussy:
We've also noticed Maya has started transferring toys hand to hand, and instead of exclusively mouthing her toys, she's started banging them against each other. She's also babbling more and with different sounds - "baba, mama" and a few others. And now that the weather is getting nicer, she's able to get outside more often, which she just loves!
This past weekend we headed to Tenafly, NJ for Maya's cousin's Bar Mitzvah. It was a family affair, with lots of relatives from Israel present.
Maya liked our hotel room.
She got to meet lots of relatives who have her picture up on their refrigerators!
The whole family...
Maya wasn't feeling all that well as the weekend wore on. Her eyes were a little goopey. The pediatrician said it was nothing to worry about. Here she is relaxing with Daddy.
And hanging with Aunt Kari.....
She enjoyed the vegetarian restaurant we visited on Saturday. Her favorite was the falafel balls!
Outside of her funky eyes, Maya seemed to enjoy herself! She got to spend time with her grandparents, Uncle Jeffrey & Aunt Kari, and Aunt Molly!
It seems like the only pictures we take now are of Maya eating. We're just fascinated by the fact that she eats people food.
She also really likes her sippy cup. She hasn't quite gotten the hang of getting water out of it efficiently just yet, but it's way fun to play with.
We call this "The Squash Series."
Not a fan of squash! Whole grain toast, on the other hand, was much better received.
Maya caught a her first mild cold the week after Easter (thanks cousin Samantha!). It wasn't that bad, but she did still need a little saline squirt to get some boogies out of her nose a few times the first day. Our nanny Jen snapped this picture after some booger-suctioning trauma. Poor little Maya. We're thankful she likes Jen so much!
Sitting pretty on the couch:
Happy and playing in her exersaucer.....
Maya's first two teeth popped through recently. Her first tooth was the bottom front left, which came through about a week before her 6 month birthday. The second popped through a week before her 7 month birthday. Hopefully the next teeth will be easier, as a solid month+ of teething is no fun for anyone! She also practiced sitting up with some assistance during her 6th month, and she's now an expert roller in each direction. She's had some stranger anxiety near the end of the 6th month, but in general she's still very sweet, calm, and happy.
