Nine and a half month old Maya

At not quite ten months, Maya is doing all sorts of things right now. A few weeks ago, she learned how to get into a sitting position on her own, which really cut down quite a bit on the "I'm STUCK! HELP!!" whining. She whines for mama sometimes, and her nanny swears that she says "hi" a lot but we don't hear it. She's usually very chatty, though, and babbles quite a bit. Her naps are still very unpredictable; we're happy if she gets in 2 hours of naptime during the day, which can happen over the course of 2 or 3 naps. Nighttime sleep is... well, we don't talk about that.. ;) We're ok with the way things are and are cherishing caring for Maya, even when she needs love overnight. She loves being out and about, watching people and babies, and seeing new things. She's very sensitive to everything that goes on around her. She loves peek-a-boo games and hide and seek, which is simply hysterical.

I forgot to put this in, but at her 9 month pediatrician appointment she weighed 19 pounds (50th percentile) and was 28.5 inches (75th percentile). She's been very healthy so far, with just a few sniffles here and there, but no full blown colds or other illnesses.

Last week she started to wave and point. She now points at everything.

Here she is just being a weirdo:

She gets around in the living room pretty well by herself.

Pointing again...

On this day she managed to get herself all the way over daddy's DVD cabinet, where she happily played by herself for quite some time.

Her hair is getting a little out of control!

Playing with mom:

She's been trying to crawl so hard for weeks now!! She's been going backwards though (which does not please her in the least).

Here she is getting mad that she can't crawl forward yet.. and pointing and talking:

And then I grabbed the camera to get her pointing and look what she decided to do!

She's only gotten better at it since then!

And thanks to Aunt Molly for making Maya this precious necklace and bracelet set with her name on it. We think she looks really adorable in the necklace.

Maya seems to think the bracelet is a toy, though, so we'll put it away until she's a little older.

Don't let her fool you; she loves peaches. She just usually eats them in slices, so she wasn't sure what to do with a whole one.

And last but not least, our new favorite video of Maya. She isn't supposed to touch the electronic equipment under the TV, so she thinks it's hysterical to try and get caught. She invented this little game herself and totally cracks herself up.

A few randoms and Father's Day

Here's a few more random pictures.

Maya loves to climb all over everything now and especially digs pulling herself up on the side of the bath tub.

And here she is playing in the bath:

Maya's nanny sometimes has her friend come over to play, and Maya really loves playing with her 8-month old son. She also loves his teething necklace (she hasn't figured out that she wears one too!).

Yum, avocado!

And finally, happy Father's Day! We spent the day at Maya's grandparents' house. Maya absolutely LOVED the little pool her daddy brought for her. She stayed in until her lips were blue and she was shivering.

The older kids played badminton and volley ball.

Who needs hands to eat?

This is Maya's nanny, Jen, and her husband Travis and their son Dylan.

And us!

Maya was playing with Merov's necklace.

And with grandpa:

9 months old

As usual, we take way too many pictures of Maya. Here are the latest photos from the past few weeks.

Having lunch:

She looooves watermelon!

Eating graham crackers in the kitchen:

Hm... which broccoli patty should I eat first?

First taste of radish. She liked it!

Just eating dinner:

Her new favorite is peaches!

Uncle Bernie and Aunt Edie finally got to meet Maya! And she finally got to meet them. We had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory. Maya had a great time.

The exciting video:

Playing in the morning:

Giving mom some 'tude.

Playing in her little play area. She loves that she can pull EVERYTHING down from those shelves.

A much needed nap! They're still all over the place, but she takes 2-3 naps a day of varying length.

With Doug!

Rolling around in her favorite play spot.

She rolled herself right over to the stairs.

Since it's been pretty hot here lately, we've spent lots of time in the pool! Maya's a big fan.

Memorial Day weekend

We stuck close to home for Memorial Day weekend. We enjoyed our deck, the warm weather, and even had some friends over.

Here's Maya modeling her sun glasses.

No pictures, please!

The sunglasses were more like a toy; she didn't keep them on for very long.

Snuggling up in the ring sling!

Some of the friends who came by for grilling:

Keri was a great baby and kid wrangler!

This is when Maya decided she'd had enough!

Then on Monday we had a pool party since it was so hot out. At first the water was a little too cold so we just played next to the pool.

Then we let it warm up and tried again. She still wasn't a huge fan.
