We had dinner at Whole Foods and then she had a bath before bed.

Hanging out at the hotel:
On Friday we headed over to our friends Jamie and Kelly's house. They used to live near us, then moved to Rhode Island. They just moved again to a house right in Providence. They were brave for hosting us for the day only one week after moving! Their house was adorable and warm and Maya appreciated all the toys!

Playing with Quincy:

She played with Jamie's boys, Quincy and Miles, very nicely. Since she plays with Dylan so much during the week, she's used to being one of the guys.

After a nice barbecue dinner, we headed back to our hotel again, for a little later than normal bedtime. It's hard to settle down when your routine is off and there are so many new and exiting things going on!
Saturday we headed off to Newport. Traffic was insane, so we were thankful that our friends got there early to get a good spot for us and the babies.
Jenn, a sleeping Jude, and Jon:

She was wiggling so cute to the music... of course the camera caught her a second too late.
Playing with Miles:

Dancing with Jenn! Fun!

Staying well-nourished...

And well hydrated (it was pretty hot!)

There was plenty of entertainment besides the music!

This is as close as we came to having a group shot of the babies. Maya in the background playing with Jude's toy, Jude making sure she doesn't take off with it, and sweet little Hannah.

And, of course, the man we came to see. Maya liked his set but she thought he could have taken the Wilson up a notch. It rained a little during his set, but it was nice to have the cloud cover.

After Trey's set, we decided to go in search of food. We noticed the clouds getting darker and more ominous, and we heard thunder off in the distance. We decided to pack it up and head back to our car. As we made our way the skies opened up and we got drenched. I was wearing Maya so I had an umbrella over us, which didn't really help much since it was raining sideways. Thankfully Maya didn't seem too phased.
We stood in line for the next bus back to the parking area. We sat with this nice lady and her 3-year old daughter Kaylie, who loved Maya and sang her songs on the 5 minute ride back to the parking lot.

Maya refused to nap at the festival, so she finally passed out, warm and dry, in the car as we made our way out of Newport.

She had some tummy issues overnight but otherwise seemed ok the next morning as we had breakfast with Jenn, Troy, Jude, and Brett and Danny. We were pushing it with her morning nap, but most of the meal she was happy.

She even got to try on Jude's cowboy hat!

Starting to get fussy now... we made our way back to the hotel to check out. We got directions to a beach, said goodbye to our friends and headed out.

As were started driving, I noticed Maya was feeling warm, so I took her temp and it was just over 101. I gave her some Motrin and we headed down to Misquamicut beach. We did a drive through of the beach area when we arrived and decided it was a bit much for us (tons of traffic, tons of restaurants, very busy, etc), so we went and got some lunch, and then took a leisurely drive along Route 1 so Maya could nap. During our drive I started to notice some familiar landmarks and remembered the great beach Maya's aunt Mary loved when she lived in Rhode Island. I made a quick phone call and found out that we were very nearby East Beach, which is much less developed and on a nature preserve.
After Maya got up from her nap, her temp was lower and it was after 4pm so we decided to take advantage of the free parking and less harsh sun. We made our way to East Beach for a bit.
Maya *hated* the sand. Absolutely hated it. When we put her on the beach towel she would crawl to the edge, put her hand in the sand, then retract her hand and cry. Poor little thing.

Then we just hung out at the water's edge.
Being not so into the beach. That's not her yelling, it's the other kids nearby.
She just took everything in. I think she liked watching the other kids there more than the water.

We didn't stay long, less than an hour, before we made our way into Connecticut. We had plans with our friends Chad and Rachel the next day, as they made their way from another music festival back home to Maine. Maya slept most of the 2 hour drive out to Naugatuck, CT, so she wasn't quite ready for bedtime when we arrived near 8pm.
We picked up some dinner on the way and said hi to Chad and Rachel when they arrived. Then it was more Motrin and bedtime. Maya's fever spiked to just over 102 overnight, but went back down with her next dose of Motrin. Her tummy troubles continued; we'll spare you the details!
Monday we had brunch with Chad and Rachel and then spent an hour or so in a nearby park, laying low so Maya could rest. Unfortunately our camera battery had died at this point and we did not have our charger with us, so we couldn't document our fun day.
We made our way home that afternoon and Maya was clearly happy to be home when we arrived.
She went to the doctor's the next day, where she was tested for a UTI. That came back negative, so we were sent home, being told that the diarrhea could last up to two weeks, and to bring her back if she still had a fever in two days. Her fever got better, but her tummy troubles continued over the next couple days. The worst of it was actually the diaper rash, but a full day of going diaperless seemed to help clear it up a bit. What an adventure that was! Her appetite was almost nothing; thankfully she continued to nurse like a champ, so we didn't worry about her becoming dehydrated.
She's now 11 months old. She cruises, and seems to be ready to tell us stories all the time now. She says "hi" constantly, and just this morning she pointed to a picture of Jon and said "dada!" She also started signing "milk" recently. She's a genius! Amazing to think she is almost one whole year old already!! Before our trip, Maya's grandmother who lives in Buffalo came out for a few days to visit. Maya cleared enjoyed having her around. During this time she discovered the joy of throwing her toys down the stairs. We did not get any pictures of the visit, but the highlight for Maya was eating almost an entire strawberry ice cream cone in Cold Spring! Gotta love Grandmas!
