Spring update

We've had a busy time lately trying to stay occupied during the cold winter months.

Maya had a weekly music class that she grew to like. Her favorite times were playing with the instruments and clean up time!

We also took a day and met up with the Kahns at an indoor play spot so Maya and Owen could burn off some steam. I think they had a blast.

I just love how she looks around after she dumps the cart out to see if she's going to be told "uh oh!"

Little break for snack time. I just love the look on Owen's face:

Going through the car wash!

Here's a cute one of Owen:

This balloon had just the right amount of helium left!

We also had to create our own indoor fun when it was too cold/snowy out.

Just talking:

This was when Jon discovered that Maya could be lulled asleep by some guitar playing!

Dancing to NKOTB:

Playing with our rice sandbox:

The exciting video:

Wearing hats indoors is always entertaining.

With her Cookie Monster book:

Eating yogurt = very time consuming and messy, but fun.

At the beginning of March we took a trip with Aunt Mary to Virginia to see Phish. Maya did pretty well considering she was confined to hotel room much of the time. Thankfully it was pretty nice out so Maya went for tons of walks.

McDonald's Play Place! Good to burn off some energy.

It was nice enough for us to hang out at the beach for a little while with our friends Jenn, Troy and Jude. And Jenn's nephew Jake!

Now that it's getting nicer out at home, we're able to get out and explore. Maya loves to play with rocks, sticks, and leaves! And she loves to dig in the dirt.

In mid-March we also spent a lovely weekend in NYC to celebrate Maya's grandma's birthday. Maya got to watch lots of Elmo videos, hang out with mama's friend Bonnie on Saturday, and even have brunch at the Waldorf Astoria!

Winter update

It's been a quiet month since the holidays. Just after New Year's we had some friends in town. Jenn, Troy, and Jude came from Vermont and Rachel came from Maine. Maya got to hang out with Jude and she really enjoyed it.

They even shared a bath together!

Maya was showing us "up and down" here.

She even gave Jude some smooches!

"Hey man, you're just a guest here. Stay outta my way."

Really excited about playing with Jude!

Toys are only interesting when someone else has them.

Hanging with Jenn!

After they left, we put her new little kitchen together. It's the perfect size for her.

The rest of the month was pretty quiet, outside of a cold plus fever that lasted less than a week, and the start of music classes every Saturday. Otherwise, we've pretty much hibernated this winter!

Yum, apples!

Preparing to throw all of her toys and books down the stairs.

Her new thing is playing with wipes. She likes to wipe her face, clean her toys, table tops, and tuck the wipe under her neck.

Maya has finally started to like dolls and snuggly toys.

Her affection for cuddly things now includes Stanley:

The shape sorter is also still a big hit.

The hamper is one of the best toys ever.

This is her "hi and bye bye game":

Her new trick!

And finally, the space helmet is still a big hit.

She just started randomly doing this one day and we have no idea where she learned it. Toddlers are weird.

Happy Holidays!

Happy holidays! We had a very busy few weeks. Just before the holidays we got a decent snow storm.

And then it melted, just in time. Here's Maya in her cute Santa dress supplied by Aunt Molly!

Immediately after pulling the hat off she asked for help putting it back on. That's a fun game we're into right now.

And then it was time to leave for Albany. We headed up for our annual gathering at Aunt Kathy's house. We made a pit stop at our hotel. Maya's always been a fan of hotel air conditioners.

Then it was time to leave for Aunt Kathy's house.

Maya's cousins Sammy and Kyle were there too.

Aunt Kathy had all sorts of fun, breakable toys within reach.

Here's Mommy trying to keep things from getting destroyed.

There were a lot of people at the party. It got a little overwhelming for Maya at times.

Here's Maya being shy with Uncle Luke:

This is the other Aunt Kathy, Grandma, Sammy, and Uncle Kenny.

By the end of the evening, Maya was ready for snuggles and bedtime!

On Christmas morning we woke up and got dressed.

Then Maya tried on daddy's boots. They were a little big.

Then we went to Uncle Luke and Aunt Christina's. When we arrived Grandpa had just fallen and needed to be taken to the Emergency Room! Grandma took him. So us kids had to make breakfast. Grandpa was fine but we missed him and Grandma for breakfast. Maya had a good time playing with Sammy and Kyle's toys.

Mom and Aunt Mary made breakfast for everyone.

Maya loved hanging out with Kyle!

Maya had a great time playing with Sammy and Kyle's play kitchen. Kitchen Aid mixer! Stainless steel appliances!

Kyle was a little sleepy from holiday festivities.

But Sammy was ready to play.

Maya got lots of good cuddle time in with Daddy.

When Aunt Mary showed up it was party time!

This is Uncle Jason opening presents.

This is Grandpa when he got back from the ER. He had to have surgery less than a week later!

Here's Aunt Christina.

Fun with fake mustaches!

I think Sammy had too much chocolate!

Fun with Grandma!

Before the night was over the girls had to play in Sammy's ball pit one more time. They're not as ticked off as they look.

After we got home, one of the packages for Maya's gift proved to be more fun than the gift itself. We call this the plastic space helmet. Excuse our lazy weekend attire.
