She napped on the car ride down so she was ready to go head to head with Owen for their Cheerio eating contest when we arrived.
"Get that lobster out of my face and give me more Cheerios!"

Maya and Owen had a good time playing on the deck as well.

Then they went and watched Owen's daddy play softball, and we all took a nice walk before dinner.
The next day, Maya and Owen had some more snacks, and played.

Saturday turned out to be very humid and warm, so we didn't venture outside much except to play in the pool. Maya had a wonderful time!

Then Owen came to join the party and they played on the deck together.
She thought this trick was pretty funny.
Back in the house, Maya had a fun time exploring. We recently taught her how to go down stairs/the couch/etc safely on her tummy. She crawled over to this tiny step in the kitchen, felt it with her hand, and decided to back down it slowly and safely. She only did it once, though. After that she was confident that it was ok to go down forward.

Then we decided to go to the beach before dinner.
Maya wasn't sure about this whole beach thing.
So we showed her how awesome the ocean is.
She still wasn't sure, though.
She didn't like the feeling of the sand at all.
Then our friends helped Maya to see that sand is fun!
When she realized how delicious the sand was, it was all over.
Maybe next time Maya can get in on a game of frisbee!
All that sand called for a bath, pronto!
The next day we walked around town a bit, and grabbed some lunch and ice cream. The weather was absolutely amazing! Not too warm, and breezy.
We really love Fire Island. For those who are unfamiliar, it's a beautiful island just off of Long Island that is accessible by ferry. There are no motorized vehicles on FI, it's all foot paths for walkers and bikers. Very relaxed and summery!
When we left, we were pushing it with nap time. We had to do our best to keep Maya entertained so she didn't get too fussy.
She loved looking out the window with Daddy.
Thanks to Russ and Beth for hosting us! We had a great time - our weekend there was a nice end to our summer!
